they were just the opener so it was a short set, but there were still a bunch of loyal fans. dave thanked us for being up front and he tried to convince the others to dance.
spencer's organ was not present, he just had one keyboard resting on a chair. he said that he broke it in new york, and at one point he picked up the keyboard and played it like an acordian... i think it was for crash landing i really can't remember.
The guys seemed to have a lot of extra energy, and the whole show they were sipping on beers instead of water (probably the two are related).
Ryan put on an impressive performance for one of his last shows, he sounded great. they jammed at the end of songs more than i've seen in the past, it sounded good. And of course ryan and jason did that thing where they put their horns from one side to the other to the beat- that gets me every time.
When they were done singing smoke everyone kept playing and dave brought a dude up on stage who i think's name was Shamir but it was hard to understand what dave was saying because he neglected to take the megaphone away from his mouth when he was introducing him. anyway shamir (or whatever his name was) freestyled with dave for a while, it was really impromptu obviously but it sounded tight. good times but i think they guys were happy to get off the stage and chill out in the bar.
