Quick Archive Update

Added set lists from July 10th, at Newport Blues Cafe, July 12th, at Memorial Park and a photo gallery from the Rock & Blues Cruise courtesy of R. Pelletier. We're missing information from the 11th in Outerland, however. If you have any photos or stories to submit please do so.

Darek discovered a video of Letter To The President from the 12th on YouTube, and Onlycrayons has audio and some pictures from these shows on the way. We'll have those links up for you when they're finished, so check back in the coming days or sign up on the message board and stay ahead of the game.

Rockin' the Boat

This past Friday evening, Rustic Overtones played a spectacular set for an enthusiastic crowd aboard the Frederick L. Nolan, Jr., a ship which is part of the Rock and Blues Cruise fleet. However, due to the huge turnout, it looked more like a giant tin of human-sardines.

Despite being packed from wall to wall, floor to floor, floor to ceiling, bow to stern, nobody seemed to care. It was a great show, and a unique event. You can scope out the set list from the show along with a great recap courtesy of Donna and OswegoMatt from the Message Board.

I've also uploaded to videos I shot to YouTube, although there isn't much to see. Since the band was not elevated on a stage of any sort, you couldn't see much beyond the first couple rows. I filmed them from the bow of the ship, through the doorways on each side. They still sound good, though!

You can listen to Rustic Overtones play C'mon below, or click for History Crush.

Letter to the President Music Video

Exclusive new video for Rustic Overtones' "Letter To The President," from their new record "Light At The End". Directed by Doug Karr & Edward Boyce.

The video was shot in Brooklyn on February 29 when the boys were in NYC for their sold-out shows at Sullivan Hall.

The tour continues on with two final stops in Providence on Friday the 18th and Boston the 19th. Thanks to Darek and oswegomatt for their setlist and report from last night's show at Higher Ground. A new gallery has just been posted featuring Darek's shots.

Tour Updates

Above is a video of Rustic Overtones performing Crash Landing from their set Thursday night, at Revolution Hall. I was able to film three other songs as well, Carnival, Iron Boots, and a unique rendition of Letter to the President capping the evening.

As their extended tour down the East Coast winds down, so have things around here, and finally found some time to add all the fresh pictures, videos and setlists.

So far each date has had at least some brief notes, varying to setlists with full, detailed summaries. Head to the index to see what you missed.

The gallery has some recent additions, from their shows at the Santa Fe Cafe and the Gravity Lounge (thanks to Forum member rusty covertones) as well as pictures to accompany a few videos from Revolution Hall. Also added to the gallery are some photos from their first show of 2008, at Sunday River.

Destroy The Plastique Man

While you're over at the Bull Moose page, reserving your new Rustic CD, you may want to double up and get the new As Fast As album, Destroy The Plastique Man. Their latest creation became available just last week, following an in-store performance of their own.

You can download a recording of the Bull Moose performance here. Thanks to forum member Onlycrayons for that. As Fast As held a CD release party on the 14th at the Asylum, which he also taped, and should be available soon.

A few more quick points on Destroy the Plastique Man:
- As Fast As on WCYY's Spinout - Thurs. 3/20 7pm-10pm
- Story/interview and acoustic performance on WCSH's "207"
- As Fast As Myspace - listen to a few of the new tracks

New Year's Eve YouTube Bonanza

As promised, the New Year's Eve Bash was recorded. The quality isn't the best, unfortunately, due to input levels, but it's better than nothing, and there's some great moments in each set that are worth checking out, absolutely. The setlist is up (yes, finally) with notes from the message board by Darek.

Here's links to the recordings, I sliced up the three sets posted on the board into tracks, and zipped them by set: As Fast As, Paranoid Social Club, Rustic Overtones

Capping things off in a big way, here's a boatload of Youtube links. A huge thanks to Kane for capping them!! Nice work!!

'Tis The Season

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hopefully by now you're over your tryptophan (myth busted!) or otherwise induced holiday hangover, because there is lots of news and rumors swirling about the Rustic Overtones.

First piece of business is that they are releasing a DVD expected to be out in the Spring. They are also re-issuing Long Division in time for the "Holidays." This was confirmed via a teaser for the DVD featured on their MySpace page. I have embedded the second trailer below.

They have also signed some sort of record deal, of which the specifics aren't yet clear. That said, forum member araungzeb reported talk from Spence and Dave that both Long Division and Light At The End will be reissued, featuring bonus tracks, as part of this deal.

While you're checking out the DVD teasers on their page, have a look at the tour dates as they have several shows coming up around New England. One to keep your eye on is the New Year's Eve show. According to Northern Lights' calendar, it is shaping up to be one for the ages, featuring not only the Rustic Overtones, but Paranoid Social Club and As Fast As!! Unbelievable!!

Finally, as promised, I've found the time to get Darek's shots up in a gallery from the Higher Ground show earlier in the month. Use the site navigation for full on gallery goodness.

Revolution Hall

Rustic performed at Revolution Hall last night, their last scheduled performance as of now. While I've been to several PSC shows, it was actually my first time seeing Rustic Overtones. It was a killer show and a good turnout. I snapped several pictures and some video of Iron Boots. See them here or use the navigation and scope out the entire archive as well.
